SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The purpose of the scholarships is to provide opportunities to individuals and organizations that may, not only participate in, but also demonstrate a proficiency and /or desire to excel in any of the disciplines in the performing or fine arts, regardless of their socio-economic status. An individual is eligible to receive an award either by the voting process, by filling out the necessary application and/or forms, or by a donor, or sponsor making a specific request for a gift to be awarded. An organization is eligible, either by becoming a partner, by the application process, or by a donor, or sponsor making a specific request for a gift to be awarded to a particular organization. The amount of the scholarships and financial aid is determined by the financial resources available, as well as what may be stipulated by a donor, grantor, or foundation. Contact us, by either email or phone, to request the necessary form(s) that may be required for your specific request. Remember to specify which scholarship or financial assistance you are applying for. All funds will be distributed directly to the organization, or program of interest, and not to an individual recipient of an award. All gifts distributed before November 15 of a calendar year, must be used within that calendar year, unless otherwise specified.

“CONTINUING EDUCATION” – The “Continuing Education Scholarship” is available to anyone pursuing education and/or training in the performing or fine arts. Awards will be offered and posted throughout the year. They will be awarded to individuals, groups, and organizations. Sponsors may designate their gift with specific guidelines for how the recipient is to be chosen, etc., or to a particular group, or organization. Opportunities will also be available through partnerships with both academic and artistic organizations. Each opportunity will require an application. Some will require the filling out of a questionnaire, or some other specified information. No financial documentation will be required.

“NEED” – (Anyone may apply for this award.) The “Need Scholarship” is for the individual who demonstrates a desire and talent to excel in the arts, and can prove by submitting the required form, that they do not have the financial resources to pay for a particular endeavor. The award may be for the total amount of the activity (depending on the resources available). It will not include any additional fees such as for pictures, t-shirts, or any other promotions associated with the activity. Those will be the responsibility of the recipient. If it is awarded for an activity sponsored by PDM PRODUCTIONS, the individual will have particular responsibilities that will be required to keep the scholarship. They will have additional duties, such as, but not limited to, assisting with the cleaning, or preparations before or after a scheduled activity of participation. If 15 or older, it may also include assisting in some childcare. In order to fulfill the acceptance of the gift, the individual will be required to perform the duties given throughout the duration of the activity. They must also remain in school (if a student) or maintain employment (if an adult) for the duration of the activity. If not, they will make themselves eligible for forfeiture of the award, which will be decided by the scholarship committee and not by the individual, nor any other entities, unless approved by the Board of Directors.

“MERIT” – (Only awarded to those participating in PDM PRODUCTIONS, INC. sponsored activities.) The “Merit Scholarship” is primarily awarded through the voting process of the scholarship committee, but may also be applied for. The recipient must demonstrate a proficiency and desire to excel within the arts. They must be able to pay the initial fee(s) of whatever discipline they are participating in, whether full length performance or workshop. After that requirement is met, the gift must be applied towards any of the other workshops or performances that PDM Productions, Inc. offers. It cannot be applied towards any gifts, photos, t-shirts, tickets, or any kind of promotional or keepsake materials that PDM Productions, Inc. may offer. If there are any funds remaining then they must be applied to some other artistic educational or vocational training. This may or may not be with PDM Productions, Inc. If the entire gift is not used within 12 months then the remaining portion goes back to PDM Productions, Inc. The decision of the balance is determined by the donor. For the duration on an activity that is being funded, in order to avoid forfeiture of the award, these, along with maintaining a 2.0gpa (if a student) or maintaining employment (if an adult) are required. Also, if a student, the overall performance at home and at school will be scrutinized and weighed in the balance. Additionally, in order to avoid forfeiture, the recipient needs to maintain a lifestyle free of being convicted of any criminal activity for the duration of the activity which is being funded. (Whether a child or an adult.) The penalty, if necessary will be decided by the scholarship committee and not by the individual; nor any other entities, unless approved by the Board of Directors.

“PERFORMANCE” – (Only awarded to those participating in PDM PRODUCTIONS, INC. sponsored activities.) The “Performance Scholarship” is only awarded by the voting process of the scholarship committee. An individual is chosen as “OUTSTANDING YOUNG PERFORMER” in either a full length performance or the PDM Story Writing Contest. (Adults are not eligible for the performance awards.) It must be applied towards continuing the artistic educational or vocational training that has been predetermined by the parents or individual, or will be determined, before the funds are distributed. This is necessary because the funds are applied directly to the organization of choice. The decision may be determined by the Board of Directors, but in either case is ultimately approved by the Board of Directors of PDM Productions, Inc. The same criteria that is set forth for the “Merit” Scholarship will apply. All the same rules for forfeiture of the award is also applicable. Additionally, any penalties, if necessary, are determined by the scholarship committee and not by the individual, or any other entities, unless approved by the Board of Directors.

“The PDM Story Writing Contest” is administered as a scholarship that is awarded as a separate “Performance” scholarship. This is determined largely by sponsorships and/or student participation. The one addition that sets it apart is that the winner of the contest, along with receiving a monetary gift, is also awarded the experience of having their story produced as a full length original musical! The contest will begin in February, with the winner being announced in June of the same year. Their story will be produced the following year as an original musical. To be eligible for the contest, you must be at least 9yrs. of age. The contest rules will be distributed when the contest begins. Participants will be chosen annually from either an academic or artistic school or organization. (Disbursements of the monetary gift are applied directly to the educational, or vocational pursuit and not to the individual.
